Road test: Aviva Labs spray tan
Aim? To give an even, fast-drying spray tan that is non-sticky,
doesn't come off on clothes and doesn't smell. The brand also says
it's oil-free, alcohol-free, fragrance free and hypoallergenic.
What happens? As with any spray tan, it's recommended you exfoliate
your skin thoroughly before your appointment, concentrating on typically
dry areas such as your feet, knees and elbows. Once you're in the
salon, you'll need to strip down to as little as you're comfortable
with. Nails and tricky areas (such as wrists) are covered with moisturizer,
and your hair is covered with a paper shower cap. Each limb is sprayed
a couple of times to ensure coverage is as even as possible, and
to build up colour (depending on how dark you want to go). You're
then dried all over with a small fan or hand-held air gun.
Cost? Around $45 (Australian)
The bottom line: I had my spray tan done at City Laser Clinic
(www.citylaserclinic.com.au) and I was impressed! It actually dries
really quickly — I was able to get dressed into my normal clothes
within minutes. The smell was absolutely minimal, and apart from
a few small patches on my feet, it faded really well. —Bree, Your
